Ostfildern, June 04, 2020: As of June 1, Gehring will fully integrate the production technology for hairpin stators into the Group’s e-motive business area. In the future, the services and products will be offered worldwide under the Gehring brand. With this step, the machine manufacturer completes the integration two years after the acquisition of the copperING Group and offers turnkey solutions in the areas of honing technology, laser technology, e-mobility and digital solutions as the Gehring brand. The sites of the former copperING in Wernigerode and Nuvolera, Italy will in future operate under the names of Gehring Prozesstechnik GmbH and Gehring S.r.l.
The technology specialist for the electric powertrain copperING has been part of the Gehring Group since 2018. Together with Gehring as an expert for complete production systems in the conventional powertrain, technologies and systems for the industrialization of e-mobility have since been developed. The Italian site in Nuvolera on Lake Garda has the experience and products related to electric motors and technologies for manufacturing pins for hairpin stators. The German site in Wernigerode acts as a technology center for impregnation technology. Together with Gehring’s expertise in system integration and supplemented by further technologies developed in-house, Gehring acts as a turnkey supplier for stator production on the world market. “Our customers want to receive production technology for stators from a single source – this applies both to the technology in the individual process steps and to the overall plant. Only in this way can we as an equipment supplier meet the high demands on productivity, quality and development speed. Our range is characterized by this universal claim – which is now also reflected in a uniform brand,” says Dr. Sebastian Schöning, CEO of the Gehring Group, explaining the new branding.
Gehring’s e-motive business unit specializes both in the development of electric motors and prototypes and in the design and supply of production machines and systems. This includes all steps of prototyping, process development and quality assurance. Optimal machine and line concepts for complete production lines are then derived from this, which are offered as turnkey solutions. The technological expertise covered by Gehring ranges from pin production, groove insulation and pin assembly to widening, twisting, welding, impregnation, gel coating and powder coating.
The entry into e-mobile production technology and the acquisition of the copperING Group is based on the Gehring Group’s strategy for efficiency and technology openness in the automotive powertrain. In addition to reducing emissions in the classic powertrain by developing leading honing, laser and coating technologies, the e-motive division is promoting the industrialization of e-mobility. Automotive manufacturers receive their production technology from the integrated, global production network of the Gehring Group.
