Naumburg, November 06, 2019 During a company event this week, the long-time Managing Director of Gehring Naumburg GmbH & Co. KG, Mr. Gerhard Simon, was bid farewell to his retirement by State Secretary Thomas Wünsch, the Deputy Mayor of the City of Naumburg, Armin Müller, as well as the management and staff of the Gehring Group. The Gehring company looks back on a history of over 93 years in Naumburg, of which Mr. Simon has played a major role in shaping the last 28 years. Founded in 1926 and relocated to Stuttgart after expropriation in 1948, the Naumburg plant was taken over again in 1991 with Mr. Simon as the group’s production manager. State Secretary Wünsch expressed his appreciation for the decision to buy back the company at that time and for its development since then, and congratulated Mr. Simon on this lifetime achievement. Silvio Krüger, Group Production Manager and new Managing Director at the site, elaborates: The reconstruction of production at the founding site and the subsequent determined further development from a parts manufacturer to a fully-fledged machine builder are largely to Mr. Simon’s credit – even though he emphasized the team effort. Mr. Simon had been appointed production manager there after joining the Stuttgart headquarters in 1987 and subsequently joined the management. Since 1995 he was the managing director of the Naumburg Society. With the retirement of Mr. Simon, Dr. Thomas Hauer takes over the management of the plant. Mr. Simon, who holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, previously worked as a production manager in machine tool manufacturing and will continue Mr. Simon’s successful work.
