Number 1 in the region - Gehring apprentices win the cup at the IG Metall youth football tournament in Esslingen

At 25th of November, 12 teams took part at the IG Metall cup in the Neckarsporthalle in Esslingen. Already in the group stage, our Gehring team delivered outstanding results in the knockout stage and played themselves confidentlxy in the knockout phase.

The winners of the group stage went to the semi-finals: Gehring, Logwin, Nagel and BW Papersystems. Although team Nagel was trying to give their best, the players of BW Papersystems were not required and so Nagel reached only place three.

In the finals, Gehring and the team of BW Papersystems competed against each other. The final game ended after regular playing time 2:2.After playing some extra time, the game had to be decided with penalty shoot-out. Our apprentices had strong nerves and won the tournament with a final score of 6: 5. For this outstanding team performance, Gehring received the challenge cup of the IG Metall youth Esslingen.

Our apprenticeship instructors, Mr. Siegert and Mr. Illi can be proud of their protégés, because not only in the training workshop, but also on the soccer field our apprentices always give 100 percent!

The Gehring team says thank you for the successful tournament and we are looking forward to defending our title next year!
