»At Gehring since March 2017
After graduating college in 2014, I started working in the automotive engineering industry at KUKA Assembly and Test in Fenton. I worked on controls drawings there and “honed” my E-plan skills. After two years of working, I felt empty in my personal life, so in August 2016 I left KUKA on good terms to go on a walk across America. After that, I came back to my hometown feeling renewed and wanted to find work in the metro-Detroit area, In March 2017, I landed a job here at Gehring, and have been working here ever since.
I continue to work here because of the opportunities this company provides for my career. The controls team here is small so my responsibilities range widely. Also, the engineering that has been established here is very complex relative to the general automotive industry. Thus, I have learned a lot so far in my 10 months here and have a ton more to learn. This is THE place to continue to develop my skills.
I work on controls and fluids design on Gehring honing machines. My functions include:
The people. At Gehring I have the privilege of working with dedicated and experienced people. All of the upper management people work long hours and clearly care a lot about the success of the company and the growth of their team. My leaders and mentors such as Frank Hummel, Dante Fortin, Jeff Roche, and Dave Nitschke are great people to work with and learn from. My president JC and vice president Sonja are approachable and involved in the work we do. It is my pleasure to be able to follow in all of their footsteps and help them out on these insanely tasking projects.
If I were a prospective person looking for a reason to work at Gehring, it would be for the work environment. If you put in the time and effort, you will feel as a part of the family here. You will be surrounded by people that care about the company and care about you.
“Teamwork makes the dream work!”
