We accompany Kim on a typical day of her training as an industrial mechanic at Gehring Technologies.
Kim's working day starts early. The early bird catches the worm
Kim works on the engraving machine and produces signs with special inscriptions. These are then attached, for example, to machines.
11.30 am
Work on the conventional lathe: Here, she and her colleague adjust the settings by hand. The machine is intended for manufacturing processes and is used for the production of rotationally symmetrical workpieces.
12.25 am
The apprentices spend their lunch break outside. If the weather is bad, they go into their group room.
1.00 pm
Kim, the head of training, Mr. Siegert and her colleague work together on the CNC machine. This is also a lathing machine which, however, is programmable in contrast to the conventional one. Mr. Siegert convinced Kim of the training at a school meeting, where upon she applied to Gehring.
13.55 pm
Kim works on the saw and manufactures some spare parts.
2.30 pm
Now she works on the manufactured spare parts in the drilling machine.
Kim works with her colleague at the Scharmann milling machine. They fasten a workpiece and mill excess material.
At the end of the day, Kim writes her report. Every day, she exactly note what she has done and what she has learned.
