New car fleets, which are offered in Europe from the end of next year, should not free up more thand 130 g of carbon dioxide per kilometer route releasiong on average - otherwise the automakers threaten heavy fines. Gehring therefore developed technologies that reduce the emission of more CO2.

Gehring uses laser honing for many years in mass production of cylinder bores, in order to minimize friction and erosion. In addition to this application the laser beams is increasingly used for roughening of surfaces.

The application of laserstructure on tribological functional surfaces enables, depending on the construction, the manufacture of friction reduced or friction maximized surfaces.

Gehring presented its new lifehone series at the leading trade fair of mechanical engineering in the Asian region, the China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT). This new honing center with inner column and rotary transport convinced visitors with a compact design, optimal accessibility and maximum flexibility. The current series smarthone and powertrainhone completed the spectrum of services.
