In addition to honing, we have developed another method at Gehring for the production of functionally optimized surfaces - laser structuring . Laser structuring is increasingly being used for the roughening of surfaces. By roughening functional surfaces that have the function of static friction, laser stucturing creates a nondissipative connection between two parts, e.g. between the connecting rod and crankshaft.
